Those of you who’ve been reading my web site from the beginning definitely know that I am a big Robert Anton Wilson fan! I absolutely love his life’s work and his way with words!

If you’re unfamiliar with Robert Anton Wilson (A.k.a RAW) I will give you a brief overview of what I know of him…

Robert Anton Wilson was both a very popular author and ‘new-age’ philosopher. He was well known for his writings about EVERYTHING pertaining to conspiracies and many topics relating to the field of Quantum Mechanics.

I’ve read several of his books including; Cosmic Trigger, Shrodinger’s Cat, & Prometheus Rising.
Cosmic Trigger absolutely blew my mind, I recommend it to anyone looking for a total mind-fuck!
If you are daring enough to read it, I recommend diving in head first with a VERY open mind. You may actually begin to question everything around yourself.

I’d like to get something out of the way….I really admire collage / montage work!

…and having said that I would like to introduce you to one of my favorite collage artists, Mr. Winston Smith. Yes, it’s same name of the character in George Orwell’s 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty Four (1984).

…. Time for a Flashback ….

Even today I can still clearly remember the day I was looking over the artwork on Green Day‘s Insomniac album.

So Surreal!

I was amazed by the sheer-awesomeness of the cover / booklet artwork.
So impressed that I spent a great deal of time looking it over from front to back, and eventually hanging it proudly on my bedroom wall.

…and there it would hang for years to come until I eventually took it down for a move…

But, low and behold 14 or so years later I would come to find out that the artist behind the Green Day cover art was Winston Smith. I guess I could have just looked a little harder to find his name on the album art…but I was young and oblivious…

At that point I had never heard his name, and only can remember seeing his work once or twice in the past.

I found his site recently and was shocked to make the connection. Check out www.WinstonSmith.com and let me know what you think. =)

Even though I connected him to Green Day’s Insomniac album art, he is probably best known for his work with the late comedian George Carlin and the band the Dead Kennedys.

What I really admire about his artwork is his use of old / vintage clip art from various print sources. There’s something glorious about working with retro images that I enjoy, and it’s really neat to see what other artists can come up with. So naturally I’m drawn to Smith’s montage art…

Another cool thing about Winston Smith is that he doesn’t stick to any one particular medium with his artwork. He has even done pieces on Darth Vader’s helmet as well as long boards.

..It makes things spicy!...

As the legend goes, you certainly cannot claim the geeky/nerdy title unless you own a plethora of outdated video games on various ancient consoles.

But, to obtain the ultimate title within the Geekdom world, you must spend an outrageous amount of $Moolah$ on some sort of a relic from the past video game world.

…and what relic may bring you that title, you ask?

…It’s the coveted World Championships game, which was for the N.E.S. platform.
Although, owning the regular run-of-the-mill GREY cartridge will not suffice…no No no!…you must have the GOLDEN cartridge!

Yes this is pretty much the Holy Grail of video games!

For those of us that are too-hip-to-be-square then I suggest  skimming through THIS WIKI ARTICLE outlining the history and background of why this particular cartridge is so praised among certain video game collectors.

…I’ll give you a hint, there were only 26 of these badass golden cartridge’s made, and they were only given out to the winners and runners-up in a 1990 video game contest put on by Nintendo Power magazine.
Hmmm…that might shed some light on why the price tag is so damn ridiculous. Nerd-i-licious!?

One copy recently fetched a jaw-dropping $17,500

I could think of a few things I would have rather blown that amount of ca$h on, but then again everyone has they’re own wacky reasons for doing what they do.

Billy Mays has been found dead at the age of 50!

The second this news dropped OxiClean’s stock went up 800%.
Sales are threw the roof and tile floors are now cleaner than ever! (joke)

First there was Ed McMahon, then Farrah Fawcett, followed by Michael Jackson‘s demise, and now Billy Mays?!?!?

WTF Man!
I question the longevity of my own life at this point! I am taking all this sad news and turning it into a positive thing for myself….but, I am sure you’re asking yourself how can all this death be a positive thing.
I will tell you…now that we understand more than ever that life is so precious, we should all live life like no one’s business!

The man who fronted products like OxiClean, Hercules Hooks,  & Mighty Putty is no more.

Mr. Billy Mays was found unresponsive at his Florida home early Sunday morning.

Ed McMahon has died at the ripe old age of 86, he had been battling health issues.

…He’s the guy that was Johnny Carson‘s late-night sidekick, and was also the host of StarSearch…

I never really was a fan of StarSearch…but I did enjoy watching the countless Publishers Clearing House infomercials that plagued our T.V. sets throughout the 90′s and into the 21st Century.
