Ok, time for me to break away from all the videos and give you something completely random:

Paper Jam!
Have you ever looked closely at a newly printed paper after it comes out of your printer? Pay close attention to the spacing and placement of all those tiny ink dots.
Now imagine doing all of that by hand!
Well it’s not just a thought, it’s actually being done by the folks over at http://thehumanprinter.wordpress.com
They’ve churned out some amazing work!
It reminds me of seeing some similar work when I was way younger.
My mother had a friend whose son ‘dotted’ a beautiful picture of a horse’s head.
Pretty neat and has always stayed in mind.
Here is some of their work and an example of their work flow:

Oh yeah…I really like how each artist has their own special “dot” signature, very cool!
For some reason while writing this I can’t help but bring to mind that hilarious commercial for the Copy-Cat printer:

The tragic and sudden death of Michael Jackson is still fresh in my mind…as well as in the minds of the countless number of MJ fans world-wide.
I know that we need to eventually move on, but it’s hard when so many people have attached emotions to Michael’s music.
I’d like to show you one of my favorite guitarists tribute to the late King of Pop…
Ahoy! …as the pirates say!
I’d like to get something out of the way….I really admire collage / montage work!
…and having said that I would like to introduce you to one of my favorite collage artists, Mr. Winston Smith. Yes, it’s same name of the character in George Orwell’s 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty Four (1984).

…. Time for a Flashback ….

Boobie...
Who is that you ask?
That’s the one and only Gary Spivey!
Wait…what? …you’ve never heard of the self-proclaimed psychic known as Gary Spivey?
Where have you been the last 25 years? Jeesh!
…Only kidding…
Again…Disney…I know, I know…you’re thinking I have some weird fetish involving Disney characters, Right? …oh, you’re not? Hmmmm…Than you surely must be thinking I am running out of unique topics to flabber on about?
Au Contraire!
I just have a deep admiration for vintage magazines, specifically from the 70′s. Which is where the snippet below came from. I also have the entire comic, if anyone is interested…Just leave a comment and I’ll email it to you. =)
This happens to be the first page of the comic:
This is an odd advertisement I found while thumbing through an old copy of a Wonderful World of Disney magazine from the early 1970′s.
What’s perplexing to me is that this Gulf Oil advertisement is in what appears to be a children’s magazine … or am I getting the whole Disney image wrong? Wasn’t Disney intended for all ages? Family-friendly? … or was the company’s target audience children?
If so, than perhaps the age-old saying is true: “Gotta start ‘em young”
…or something to that effect…
