Thank you for correcting me, I read into it and indeed he was accused of raping a 15 year old boy, and on another site it said that on June 4th 1969 he was booked for a rape charged that occured at Spahn Movie Ranch.

he "personally" manipulated his followers to kill... he deserves to be locked up, whether in a mental institution of prison.

Yeah, that is quite true about the other historical figures you've named, they too were not literal "Mass Murderers."

I still think that individuals who act on another person's ideology are more responsible(for their own actions) then the originator of the of that ideology. The same concept could equally be applied to subject of religion and war. There are many people in this world who lack logical reasoning and critical thinking skills, and are easily guided by the ideals of another. These ideals are easily interpreted "incorrectly" and sometimes acted upon.
If I told someone to go jump off a bridge and they did, would it be right for me to be held accountable for that person's actions?
Perhaps my way of thinking is Halfass Backwards =)

Thanks for commenting

Agreed, and Saddam Hussein didn't murder anyone either. But that didn't make him less dangerous nor did it clear him of responsibility for the actions of his personality cult. I guess if Manson is not a mass murder in that sense, then neither is Hitler, Stalin, Mao or Hussein. Does that make them less evil somehow?

Those master manipulators who use their skill to persuade others to commit crimes are just as guilty of those crimes, in my opinion. In fact, there is every reason to believe that the crimes committed by the cults of each of the above named persons would never have happened had each not used their cult leadership powers to order them. That seems to be a high level of responsibility, to me.

Yes I agree. I remember all the trials when I was young. They all had their Choices and they chose. It amazes me that society seem to have less fear/ more sympathy for those who actually commited the murders???

Ultimately it comes down to accepting 100% responsibility for Their/Our actions!

I was thinking about that as I posted this picture...
He was put in jail for his way of words and manipulation techniques...If we're throwing people behind bars for that then every minister/preacher/pope/prophet/mentor/teacher that has ever lived should be thrown behind bars...for life. Every person has the ability to interpret things differently, and then act on those interpretations. That's basically what happened...gullible people lacked common sense and inevitably were persuaded by a crafty individual.
If you listen to Manson's past interviews he brings up some very interesting points about the judicial system and the supreme court.

Just a thought..."Conspiracy to Commit"....How much of our Judicial System, or our Government for that matter, would still be "free" if they were held accountable for their actions "Conspiracy to Commit"... What better way to feed the Sheeple Than to have a face to place in front of them...

It's alarming the fear that the name Charles Manson evokes in society though he was never convicted of murder. To think that he has remained behind bars all these years because... Why? He was Charismatic? Isn't that the word people place on others for the character traits he seemed to possess at the time? He was said to have the ability to sway the people...

Is this not what both the media and the politicians do??
